Who We Are
My name is Zsolt Szabo, but most people just call me George. I am 32 and I have spent the better part of a decade working as an IT professional in the UK technology sector. Display technology and IT infrastructure have always been my area, and over the years I have naturally become the person my mates and family turn to when they need straight-talking advice on what to actually buy.
The idea for this site came from a genuine frustration. Even with my professional background, trying to buy a new monitor meant wading through pages of vague reviews, inflated spec claims, and articles that clearly had no idea what a response time or panel type actually means in practice. If someone who works in IT finds the 2026 UK monitor market a confusing mess, what chance does the average buyer have? The Monitor Expert exists to fix that!
What We Do
Rather than faking lab tests, I dig into the raw technical specifications of each monitor and pull together verified buyer feedback from across the web. I translate the numbers into plain English. I will tell you what a VA panel actually means for contrast in a dark room, whether 144Hz is worth paying for if you are not a gamer, and whether that HDR400 badge on the box means anything at all in real-world use.
To be straight with you — I do not physically test most of the monitors that lands on these pages. What I do instead is apply genuine IT expertise to the specs and aggregate what thousands of real-world buyers are actually saying after weeks of use. That is more useful than a single afternoon in a lab!
Our Approach to Content
I believe the best consumer advice comes from combining genuine technical expertise with modern research tools. I oversee every single piece of content on this site to make sure it meets a strict editorial standard before it goes live.
We use automated systems to gather raw specifications and process hundreds of real buyer opinions, but every final analysis is shaped by my professional judgement and understanding of the UK market. If a monitor’s specs do not justify its price tag, I will say so plainly. I keep the site regularly updated to reflect new 2026 releases, price movements, and shifts in the market, so the advice you are reading is always current.
Why Trust Us
Because I actually work in IT infrastructure, my technical knowledge goes well beyond rewriting a manufacturer’s press release. I understand what panel types, refresh rates, response times, and colour gamuts mean on paper — and more importantly, how they translate for the person sitting in front of that screen every day. I know which specs genuinely matter and which ones are just marketing noise dressed up in numbers.
The Monitor Expert is entirely independent. No manufacturer pays me to write favourably about their products. To keep the site running and the content free to access, I may earn a small commission through the Amazon EU Associates Programme if you buy through my links, at absolutely no extra cost to you. That independence is what keeps the advice honest.
