A height adjustable stand is one of those features that sounds minor until you spend eight hours at a desk with a monitor at the wrong height — then it becomes the most important thing about it. Most budget monitors ship with a tilt-only stand that locks you into whatever height the manufacturer decided was right, which is rarely right for anyone. A proper height adjustable stand lets you set the screen at true eye level, which makes a genuine difference to neck and shoulder comfort over a long working day.
The problem is that “height adjustable” covers a wide range of actual adjustability. Some monitors offer a token 30mm of travel that barely makes a difference. Others give you a full ergonomic range that works whether you are sitting, perching, or using a standing desk. I look at the actual adjustment range in every relevant analysis — not just whether the spec sheet says height adjustable, but whether the range is genuinely useful in practice.
